What's New for the BMW i4
Seeing as the i4 was released last year, the 2023 model year only receives minor changes. First, the 18-inch M Bi-color Midnight Grey wheels with all-season tires are no longer available. But BMW is introducing a new entry-level model called the eDrive35, and it uses a smaller 66.0-kWh battery pack to achieve 260 miles of range. Also, the Iconic Sounds Electric option- which enables a variety of synthesized sounds to be played through the car's speakers and is adjusted with the vehicle's acceleration, will now be available in the Premium package.

Trims
There are three trims options available for the BMW i4:
- eDrive35
- eDrive40
- M50
Performance
Every trim of the i4 is powered by a unique powertrain setup. Gurnee drivers will find the new eDrive35 is equipped with a single rear-mounted electric motor to produce 281 horsepower and 295 lbs.-ft of torque. While Kenosha, WI, residents will notice the eDrive40 uses the same powertrain but increases output to 335 hp and 317 lbs.-ft of torque.
Under the hood of the high-end M50 is a dual-motor powertrain with all-wheel drive to output a combined 469 hp and 538 lbs.-ft. of torque. For even more power, the M50 comes with a Sport Boost mode that will increase the engine output to 536 hp and 586 lbs.-ft or torque for about 10 seconds.

Range & Charging
According to BMW, the entry-level eDrive35 model, with its smaller electric battery, delivers around 260 miles of range. The rear-drive single-motor on the eDrive40 has a range of about 300 miles. While the dual-motor all-wheel-drive M50 utilizing the same battery tops out at around 245 miles.
As for its charge times, all i4 models can charge between 88 and 108 miles of range in just 10 minutes thanks to this model having a 200-kW charging capacity. And when Lake Forest locals use the Level 2 onboard charger, they can recharge the i4's battery from zero to 100 percent in less than 8 hours.
Interior
The BMW i4's cabin is filled with rich appointments including an optional rose gold trim, white leather upholstery, and light wood trim. As a first for BMW sedans, the i4 comes equipped with a large seamless display that spans almost two-thirds of the dashboard.

Technology
This year, BMW is updating its iDrive 8 infotainment system with the iDrive 8.5. This latest version operates through a 14.9-inch touchscreen integrated with a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel on one large, curved display. Along with physical controls on the center console, the system offers advanced voice commands and various features, including Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a Wi-Fi hotspot.
Safety
The 2023 i4 offers a variety of standard and optional driver-assistance technology. Forward-collision warning with automated emergency braking, lane-departure warning, and lane-keeping assist are all standard driver aids. While adaptive cruise control and a 360-degree camera system are available in optional packages.
