Knauz BMW Alternate Transportation Policy

Our team at your local BMW dealership, Knauz BMW, knows that being without your vehicle can be quite the inconvenience. If you are waiting on a minor maintenance fix or service, like an oil change, you can comfortably wait in our  Wi-Fi equipped customer lounge. You can also use our pickup and delivery service when you schedule your repairs. We offer free shuttle services to any clients that happen to be within 15 miles of our dealership. This shuttle runs from Monday to Friday during normal business hours, providing round-trip service to our clients. Your dealership for a new BMW near Chicago, Knauz BMW always wants to be there for our customers, especially when they need their vehicle serviced. Substitute transportation is provided at no charge as a courtesy to our clients who are in a situation that makes getting a service loaner completely necessary.

Loaner Vehicle Policy

Loaner vehicles are available by appointment only. To schedule an appointment, please call 847-604-5000. We understand that unexpected vehicle issues, particularly those related to safety or that render your vehicle inoperable, can be urgent. In such cases, we will make every effort to accommodate your transportation needs, and our dedicated service department is here to assist you.

A courtesy loaner vehicle is provided exclusively for repair services, which are projected to take longer than two hours. Please note that loaner or rental vehicles are not available for Body Shop repairs; however, we can assist you in arranging a rental car if needed.

We maintain a limited inventory of BMW loaner vehicles. As a result, we cannot guarantee the availability of a BMW for every visit. Loaners are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Should there be no BMW loaners available, we will strive to provide you with a rental vehicle to meet your needs.


Vehicle Usage Information

Driver Requirements

Before operating the loaner vehicle, the driver must present a valid driver's license, a credit or debit card, and proof of insurance demonstrating proper coverage. This includes liability limits of at least 100/300/50; please consult your advisor for more specific information. It is advisable to contact your insurance company regarding any potential damages or accidents, as they will act as the primary carrier in such instances. Only individuals named on the Loaner Car Agreement and their spouses can operate the vehicle. Additionally, due to insurance regulations, all drivers of loaner vehicles must be at least 21.

Responsibility for Charges

The individuals named on the Loaner Car Agreement will be held accountable for any charges incurred while using the vehicle. This includes, but is not limited to, tolls, parking tickets, fees, penalties, damages, and any additional costs that may arise for Knauz Continental Autos. An administrative fee of $50.00 will apply for processing these charges, ensuring all transactions are handled efficiently.


Return Policy and Usage Fees

To maintain convenience for all clients, the loaner vehicle must be returned within 24 hours of notification indicating that the service on your car is complete and ready for pick-up. If the loaner vehicle is not returned within this timeframe, a daily usage fee of $79.00 will be charged for each additional 24-hour period.

Please be aware that loaner and rental vehicles are prohibited from being taken on vacations and must be driven only within a 75-mile radius of our dealership. Moreover, the daily mileage limit is restricted to 125 miles. A fee of $0.50 per mile will be applied to any customer exceeding this daily mileage allowance.

Fuel and Maintenance Policies

The loaner vehicle should be returned with the same fuel level as when checked out. Failure to do so will incur an $8.00 per-gallon charge for any additional fuel required.

To ensure a pleasant experience for all clients, all loaner vehicles are designated as NON-SMOKING. Out of respect for our customers' diverse health needs, smoking and pets' presence in loaner vehicles are strictly prohibited. A detail fee of $259.95 will be applied to any driver who smokes or transports pets in a loaner vehicle.

Final Checklist

We kindly ask that you remove all personal belongings and debris from the loaner vehicle before returning it. Unfortunately, we cannot be responsible for any items or articles left behind in the car. Our primary goal is to provide clients with a comfortable and safe experience accessing our loaner vehicle program. We appreciate your cooperation.
