BMW's 750i xDrive is a technology-rich tranquility machine strapped to a rocket, reports Tom Voelk of the The New York Times, in a new review. The flagship motorcar of the venerable Bavarian automaker - completely refreshed for 2016 - contains more 100 million lines of computer code, in addition to an available 4.4-liter eight-cylinder engine with two twin-scroll turbos. This launches the luxury sedan to 60 mph in just 4.3 seconds.

In traffic or on the highway, The 750i'a eight-speed transmission anticipates shift dynamics via the onboard GPS, and takes lane cues from a "traffic jam assistant" sensor. The "Executive Seating" package provides backseat passengers with a removable Samsung tablet that controls entertainment and iDrive features. Indeed, The Times suggests BMW consider getting into the smartphone business should Apple venture into car manufacturing.
