It seems to be a staple of automotive lore that models are only set to enjoy a certain amount of time in the limelight. That, however, is not the case for the BMW 3 Series, which has enjoyed three decades of dominance and twenty-two consecutive mentions on Car and Driver's 10 Best listing. Although they may try, the competition has been unable to match it.
The reason for the 3 Series continued dominance is a mixture of German engineering and progress. While the changes for 2016 may seem minor on paper, their benefits will go a long way in the long run. This includes things like retuned suspension, power steering, and a new front strut assembly, in addition to the new 3.0L turbocharged inline-six and visual tweaks.
